MOSCOW, 13 Oct – PRIME. The Nord Stream pipe for hundreds of kilometers, in particular, towards Russia, is filled with sea water, said the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller.
“This means that the pipe is for a very long distance, at present, in particular, towards Russia … it is filled with sea water for hundreds of kilometers,” he said in an interview with Channel One.
The restoration of Nord Stream may require the construction of a new section, since after the destruction it is necessary to cut off a large piece of pipe, Miller said.
“Experts say that in order to restore work after such a terrorist act, it is necessary to actually cut off a very large piece of pipe, at a great distance, and in fact build a new section on this section,” he said.
The attacks took place on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines is unprecedented and it is impossible to estimate the repair time. After the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated a case on an act of international terrorism.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak said earlier that there are still no decisions to allow Russia to investigate the Nord Streams.
