The Last of Us Part II still managed to overtake The Witcher 3 in the number of Game of the Year awards

Fan portal Game of the Year Tracker, which collects information from numerous sources about where, when and which game received the next title of “Game of the Year”, reported its readers that The Last of Us Part II as of today the title of the best game of the year was awarded by 261 resources, one way or another related to video games.

For comparison, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, which a significant part of gamers rightly considers one of the best projects of the first two decades of the XXI century, was awarded the highest award 260 times – this record was recorded in 2016.

Another thing is noteworthy: Game of the Year Tracker takes into account not only the opinions of the editors of certain editions, but also, where applicable, the choice of readers. So, The Last of Us Part II is ahead of “The Witcher” in terms of the number of ratings from the editors, while, according to readers, the story about the gray-haired monster fighter deserves the high title of “Game of the Year”. There is nothing surprising in this, however, no: The Last of Us Part II has become one of the most controversial game projects in recent years, in which many discerned the fanatical desire of developers to push “modern values”.
