The MSI Geforce GTX 970 with Twin Frozr V is leaking online

It’s soon time for the launch of the Maxwell architecture for the performance segment. In the lead is the flagship Geforce GTX 980, which is accompanied by the stripped-down cousin GTX 970. Extra interesting for the latter is that it is expected to arrive in a myriad of special designs from partner manufacturers.

One of the most described models is without a doubt MSI’s upcoming graphics card, which on several occasions has appeared in renderings on all kinds of social media. Videocardz is now publishing the official product images for the Geforce GTX 970 from MSI, which uses the brand new cooling solution Twin Frozr V.

The heart of the model is a stripped-down variant of the new GM204 graphics circuit, which goes down from 2,048 to 1,664 CUDA cores. MSI has chosen to clock up to 1,140 MHz and 1,279 MHz base respective boost, which can be compared to the standard frequencies 1,052 MHz and 1,178 MHz. This includes 4 GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 7,000 MHz, for a bandwidth of 224 GB / s.

The graphics card does not follow the shorter reference design, but here MSI has instead chosen a larger solution. The company also deviates from Nvidia’s regular power supply with two 6-pin PCI Express and replaces one with an 8-pin, which enables a maximum power output of 300 W instead of 225 W. However, the graphics card’s TDP value is stated to be in the low 148 W class.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 and partner-made models of GTX 980 will be launched on September 19, at the same time as the worldwide Game24 event.
