The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti is overclocked to almost 1,800 MHz

After working from top to bottom with the architecture Pascal, Nvidia is about to launch two graphics cards based on the graphics circuit GP107, where the focus is set on price ranges below SEK 2,000. The models in question are called Geforce GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050, which succeed the GTX 950, GTX 750 Ti and GTX 750.

What makes GP107 perhaps most interesting is the information that it will be Nvidia’s first graphics circuit to be manufactured by Samsung at 14 nanometers, this instead of the 16-nanometer technology from TSMC that is used for all the other Pascal-based circuits GP106, GP104, GP102 and GP100 .

According to leaked specifications, the GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 have boost frequencies of 1,382 and 1,455 MHz respectively – relatively low compared to the approximately 1,600 MHz and above that are standard for other Pascal-based graphics cards. This has led many to conclude that Samsung’s manufacturing technology, which Globalfoundries also uses to manufacture AMD’s RX series, is not powerful at higher frequencies.

Now, new data suggests that the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti may become an overclocker of rank. Chinese Chiphell publishes a screenshot from GPU-Z with a graphics card from partner manufacturers running at 1,354 and 1,468 MHz at base respective boost, up from 1,318 and 1,392 MHz in standard version.

The relatively low-key factory overclocking is accompanied by an activity log where the graphics card is overclocked to be at 1,771 to 1,797 MHz under load. This corresponds to an increase of 27–29 percent higher than its regular frequency boost and just over 20 percent from factory overclocking.

In addition to a significant frequency increase, the as yet unnamed graphics card has been tested in 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra and Time Spy, then with its clock frequencies from the factory. Here, the graphics card lands at 1,895 and 2,513 points, respectively, just above many factory-overclocked variants of the Geforce GTX 960 and Radeon R9 380.

The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti is believed to be launched on October 18 at the recommended price of 149 dollars, corresponding to approximately 1,600 kronor including VAT. The downsized sibling GTX 1050 is expected to appear a little later, on October 26, for 119 dollars or about 1,300 kronor including VAT.
