The Nvidia Geforce RTX 2000 series in reference version is overclocked from the factory

Nvidia recently unveiled its new Turing architecture, which will in future be used in both the company-oriented Quadro models and the consumer-oriented Geforce cards from the company. Previous information claimed that Nvidia for the new models worked on the reference cooler to use two fans instead, something that was confirmed during the unveiling.

New for the cards in the reference version, which is again named Founders Edition, is also the fact that they come overclocked directly from the factory. On its website, the company explains the decision by stating that they have discovered that the majority of consumers never overclock their graphics cards, even though it is entirely possible on virtually all models.

This is a slightly higher turbo frequency for all models and for the Geforce RTX 2070 it ends up at 1,710 MHz, which can be compared with 1,545 MHz in the basic version. The two larger siblings RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti have a turbo frequency of 1,800 and 1,635 MHz respectively.

According to Nvidia, the higher clock frequencies are one of the reasons why they have chosen to switch to the new cooler. The fans are also accompanied by an upgraded steam chamber design with an associated cooling flange of aluminum, and according to the company’s measurements, the models are 10 degrees cooler than an overclocked Pascal-based board with Founders Edition coolers.

The new models with Nvidia’s “Founders Edition” cooler can be pre-booked through the company’s website and all come with a three-year warranty. The launch of Geforce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti will take place on September 20 and RTX 2070 will be released later in October. In terms of price, Geforce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti are listed for 6,899, 9,199 and 13,999, respectively, in the company’s Swedish online store.
