MOSCOW, 4 Oct — PRIME. Russia and Turkey are discussing not the postponement of payments for gas supplies, but the cost of fuel, a source in Ankara told RIA Novosti.
“It’s not about the delay, but about the price,” the source said.
He clarified that earlier the price in the contracts was calculated on the basis of European quotations, which is why the cost of supplies was high. However, now the countries have agreed to pay for part of the fuel in rubles, so the conditions have changed.
“There are no problems in the negotiations, everything is based on the trust and attitude of the two leaders,” the source stressed.
Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that Ankara asked Moscow to defer part of gas payments until 2024 to mitigate the damage from rising energy prices.
