The Zotac Geforce GTS 450 Eco Edition promises 33 percent lower power consumption

The latest from Zotac is the Geforce GTS 450 Eco Edition, which is marketed with the promise of 33 percent lower power consumption than the reference model, the latter with a TDP value of 105 W. It makes it possible to power the graphics card directly from the motherboard’s PCI Express without connecting any extra power contacts, but still with active cooling (fan).

With the ZOTAC GeForce GTS 450 ECO Edition, we were able to improve energy-efficiency and eliminate the external power connector without sacrificing any GPU features.

To get there, Zotac scales down the clock frequencies a bit and uses DDR3 memory instead of GDDR5. The specifications show 192 stream processors in 600 MHz, 1,200 MHz shader and 1,333 MHz DDR3 (1 GB). It can be compared with the reference models 783, 1,566 and 3,600 MHz (GDDR5) respectively.

In other respects, video outputs for DVI-DL, Displayport and HDMI 1.4a are noticeable, and just as usual, there is support for DirectX 11, CUDA, PhysX, 3D Vision and Blu-ray 3D. Some price information is not yet known.
