Ukraine together with Europe and the United States exposed hackers breaking into banks

Ukrainian cyber police, together with foreign colleagues, have teamed up to expose hackers who steal money from foreign bank accounts through cyber attacks and phishing. The hacks were carried out using the malicious software EMOTET, which, according to law enforcement officials, is considered the most unsafe and “persistent”.

EMOTET is a Trojan virus with servers located in different parts of the world. The first activities of hackers were noticed in 2014, their headquarters is based in Russia. The virus was spread by sending spam notifications under the guise of recommendations for protecting an account or taking precautions related to COVID-19, in addition to this, there were full-fledged cyber attacks on bank servers.

Official data from the website of the National Police of UkraineThe cyber police of Ukraine carried out an operation, during which they arrested two Ukrainian citizens taking part in a similar scam. During the search, computer equipment, physical crypto wallets and currency in hryvnia and dollars were seized. Similar operations took place outside Ukraine, but there is no video from law enforcement agencies.
