VTB warned about illegal proposals to restore the application on iOS

MOSCOW, 23 Aug — PRIME. VTB records cases of advertising mailings with a proposal to restore the bank’s mobile application in the App Store, such services are illegal and fraudsters may be behind them, the press service of the credit institution reported.

“VTB records cases of advertising mailings with a proposal to restore the bank’s mobile application in the App Store. Such proposals began to circulate today in telegram channels. The authors of the mailing lists offer to install the application through certificates and on a turnkey basis using specialized services,” the message says.

According to VTB experts, this practice is illegal and does not guarantee the installation of the previous version of the application. Moreover, scammers can use this scheme for their own purposes, so that after receiving an advance payment for work, they stop communicating, the bank added.

“VTB warns its users that such activity has nothing to do with the bank itself and can be used by third parties for their own purposes. In this case, there is no guarantee that the application will be installed, mobile bank password) to third parties,” the press service warned.

VTB recommends that iOS smartphone owners use the web version. Android users still have access to the mobile version of VTB Online, which can be downloaded from the home page of VTB Online Internet Banking, as well as from official mobile device stores.

Earlier on Tuesday, a RIA Novosti correspondent became convinced that the application, which allowed VTB customers with iOS devices to use the bank’s services, was no longer available for download in the App Store. Also, the SBOL application was removed from it, through which Sberbank customers with iOS devices could use the bank’s online services.

This spring, the United States imposed sanctions on VTB and Sberbank, as a result of which their mobile applications were removed from the App Store and Google Play.
