We know the details of the Gigabyte Z690 motherboard for Intel's Alder Lake-S

According to unofficial information regarding the premiere of Alder Lake, we are to expect it on November 4 or 19. So we do not know for sure about a specific day, but the weight and number of leaks from the last days clearly indicate that we are approaching it. Together with the 12th generation Intel Core processors, DDR5 memory and platforms will also debut, among which one specific has just seen the light of day. I am talking about the Gigabyte Z690 for Intel’s Alder Lake-S, the box of which revealed the most important details about it.

It seems that motherboard makers are already beginning to ship their products to stores in preparation for the introduction of Intel processors to the market. This was confirmed by a leak from HXL, regarding the photo of the back of the box of the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 motherboard, which gave us a little foretaste of what this motherboard has to offer.

Gigabyte Z690 motherboard specification for Alder Lake-S

The photo below reveals many details about the new flagship chipset and related high-end Intel platforms. Let’s start with the fact that it concerns the aforementioned Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 board, which will be available in the standard ATX format and will remain compatible with DDR4 memory, although the DDR5 variant will appear on the market over time.

As it is a high-end motherboard based on the flagship Intel Z690 chipset, it traditionally offers a number of interesting solutions and additions. Support for PCIe 5.0 is certain, but apparently it only applies to the main PCIe x16 slot, while the other two expansion slots most likely run on the PCIe 4.0 standard.

The issue of line sharing remains unknown, but Gigabyte will certainly introduce some limitations in this regard, as this board will feature as many as four M.2 PCIe slots under a huge heatsink. There are also six SATA III ports standard in this class, Wi-Fi 6 support, nine USB Type A ports and one USB Type C port. The video outputs include one HDMI port and one DisplayPort output, while the audio options come down to two 3.5mm audio connectors and S / PDIF interface.

At the end I left what is most interesting, i.e. the power section. The Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 should be great at overclocking Alder Lake-S processors, as it has a 16 + 1 + 2 section with intensity levels around 70A. The first group is responsible for stabilizing and supplying the V-Core voltage, one phase is for VCCDT, and the other two for VCCAUX.
