What is it and how to make a Backup on my PC or on my Android?

A backup is as the name implies, a copy important data They are stored in an alternate location, so they can be recovered if deleted or damaged. Depending on how often you change your data, its value, and how long it takes to back up, how often you should do that process will determine. Today, there are various ways to back up your information and extensive means to preserve your data.

Why should I back up my data?

A computer could stop working at any time and data on a hard drive could be corrupted or lost. When hardware or computer stops working, all important files should be backed up to avoid data loss and make sure you can get those files back if necessary.

How to make a backup?

The most important information to back up is anything that cannot be replaced or reinstalled. That includes files of personal documents, letters, photos, financial information, videos, etc. Some of the most popular and easy ways to backup are:

  • USB memory stick
  • Copy data on an alternative medium (CD-R, DVD, R)
  • External hard drive

Ways to make a backup from an Android mobile

As an Android user, you can backup via: USB, Google Account, Bluetooth, Wifi (Using the AirDroid app. Although many people would prefer opt for wireless connectivity and the cloud storage option, sometimes it is good to choose a classic method. It is quite easy to transfer data from your Android device to PC using a USB cable. Here’s how to do it.

If you have a Windows PC or laptop

  • Step 1: Connect your Android device with a USB cable to your PC or Laptop with Windows 10 operating system.
  • Step 2: Check the connectivity notification USB -> Click Charge via USB.
  • Step 3: Under “Use USB for” select the File Transfer option.
  • Step 4: Open the file explorer on your PC, now you can see the same files on the screen -> Drag and transfer files or data of which you want to back up.
  • Step 5: Once done, locate the safe removal icon hardware in the system to disconnect the USB connectivity of your phone from the PC.

Backup using a Google account

One of the many benefits of owning an Android smartphone is that most of data backup is done automatically within certain intervals. But that’s only when you have logged into your Google account from your smart device.

  • Paso 1: Go to Settings -> Touch Backup & Restore or Backup & Restore.
  • Step 2: If your phone has “Backup my data” and “Automatic restore”, make sure to enable both sliding the button.
  • Step 3: Select all the options listed to make sure the data is synced with your Google account. If you have data that needs to be shared frequently, you can always look for other options for cloud storage.

Backup via Bluetooth

If you have WiFi connectivity issues, you can activate your Android device’s connection to your desktop or laptop via Bluetooth. But, compared to WiFi, file transfer using this medium it may take a long time.

  • Step 1: On your Android device, go to Settings -> Tap on the Bluetooth option under Connections (make sure you set your Android device to visible mode).
  • Step 2: From a Windows 10 PC, click the Start button -> Enter Settings -> Press Toggle to enable Bluetooth. -> Select the Pair button to connect to PC with your smartphone.
  • Step 3: Select all the files you want to transfer from your smartphone to your PC. Now you know that having a backup is imperative and of importance.
