MOSCOW, Sep 1 — PRIME. Wind power generation in Europe fell in August to the lowest level in 2022, amounting to only 10.08% of total generation, according to data from the WindEurope association.
The expert spoke about the shortcomings of solar and wind stations
Prior to this, the worst month for WPPs was June, in which they accounted for only 11.23% of the European energy mix. The championship in 2022 is still held by February – 20.12%. In 2021, in general, the share of “windmills” in the total volume was 15%.
However, in summer, wind generation is traditionally at a minimum. Therefore, the wind can hardly be called a determining factor in the increase in electricity prices in the EU, which hit a record in August, according to the analytical company Rystad. The main reason remains high gas prices, caused by reduced supplies of Russian “blue fuel” and the limited ability to use alternative energy sources to gas.
