With Xuperchain, Baidu wants to democratize blockchain in business

The Chinese government wants to develop the use of blockchain. The technological giant Baidu contributes through a service allowing developers and SMEs to design their own decentralized applications.

Deploy a platform blockchain is a complex and costly step for companies, and therefore very often a hindrance. However, the Chinese authorities hope that the country's economy will largely adopt the blockchain.

To democratize the uses in this area, the government can however rely on its technological giants, the BATX. This is particularly the case with Baidu, which is developing different type technologies Blockchain-as-a-service.

In addition to its blockchain network Xuperchain, the firm opens a digital service for third-party developers as well as small and medium-sized businesses. This should allow them to design decentralized applications or Dapps, i.e. software exploiting the characteristics of blockchain.

Simplify blockchain access and reduce costs

But Baidu Above all, it intends to allow these companies to get rid of the design phase of a blockchain architecture. Users will indeed operate the platform, Open Network, made available by the publisher of the most widely used search engine in China, the way they may already be using cloud services.

It’s clearly for Baidu reduce the costs of accessing the blockchain and technological barriers in order to encourage adoption. And with Xuperchain, the company already appears to have a robust platform capable of accommodating large numbers of users.

On its site, Baidu specifies that its blockchain network already hosts 3.5 million users and processed more than 450 million transactions.

According to his white paper, Xuperchain can handle more than 10,000 transactions per second. The network notably relies on seven main nodes for this.

Baidu However, this is not the first step. Last February, the company launched BBE or Baidu Blockchain Engine, a brick of its Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) offer.
