XP doesn’t give up. Windows 7 owners will have a year and a half to return to Windows XP

According to the Channel Register, happy owners of computers with Windows 7 installed will be able to switch to Windows XP within a year and a half after the release of the new operating system, writes Channel Register. Previously, it was only about a six-month period for a return. Now it will be possible to return to XP from October 22 to April 1, 2011.

True, not everyone will be able to switch to Windows XP. Windows 7 Professional owners can upgrade to Vista Business or Windows XP Professional. In turn, Windows 7 Ultimate users can switch back to Vista Ultimate or Windows XP Professional.

Organizations that have purchased a Windows 7 license covering 250 computers or more will also be allowed to revert to any version of Windows XP. After 18 months, users will only be able to upgrade to Windows Vista, and will not support the upgrade to XP.

In Russia, the Federal Antimonopoly Service considers Windows XP to be the best-selling operating system. Having recognized Microsoft as the dominant company in the market, the FAS demands that the sale of this version of Windows be continued. Officials also consider it not entirely fair to buy Windows 7 to upgrade to Windows XP.
