Yandex Browser Receives Reliable Protection Against Tracking

On August 18, 2021, Yandex released a new version of the proprietary Yandex Browser with enhanced protection against trackers that use cookies to track user actions on the Internet. This is a mechanism that sets serious restrictions on the transmission of user data to third-party web resources.

Thanks to the innovation, websites that have not been opened by the user for 45 days will no longer be able to use cookies to track their activity. By the way, in the past, due to the absence of this restriction, even a one-time accidental visit to any web resource could lead to the installation of trackers for constant monitoring of the user.

Also, the Yandex team has added another useful feature to the new release – displaying the expiration date for each tracker. You can use it by clicking on the shield icon in the browser address bar on the right. In addition, now users have the ability to block and enable installed trackers with their own hands.

The developers are confident that new technologies will help to even more reliably protect user data from unfair use for commercial and any other purposes. All the changes made are already available to users on the main platforms Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.

Today Yandex Browser is in second place in popularity after Google Chrome in the Russian segment of the Internet. It is used by 23.5% of the Runet audience.
