You can now install Windows 10 on your Steam Deck

Valve is pampering users who have purchased one, and therefore they keep their word and since yesterday, you can now install Windows 10 on your Steam Deck.

In addition to being able to install Windows 10 on a Steam Deck, you’ll also need to download the GPU, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth drivers that you’ll need to play the game.

If you are interested in installing Windows, you will need a few additional drivers to get the best result. Links to those drivers, as well as some notes on installing Windows on the Steam Deck, are available here:

A few notes about these resources:

  • For now, only a full installation of Windows is possible. Although Steam Deck can dual boot just fine, the SteamOS installer that provides a dual boot wizard is not quite ready.
  • Also for now, it is only possible to install Windows 10. To use Windows 11, a new BIOS that provides fTPM support is required and will be available very soon, but is currently under development.
  • Drivers for the GPU, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available. AMD and other vendors are still working on audio drivers, but you can still use Bluetooth or USB-C audio devices with Windows on Deck.
