Zotac circumvents Nvidia’s limitations with its own overclocking profiles

Something that has been much discussed lately is Nvidia’s upcoming graphics card Geforce GTX 1070 Ti, as well as the fact that the company does not allow partner manufacturers to overclock the card from the factory. However, this can be done by the user himself after purchase, but this means that all models have the same base frequency directly from the package.

Videocardz now reports that the manufacturer Zotac circumvents this by creating overclocking profiles that can be applied via the company’s software Firestorm. For the Geforce GTX 1070 Ti Amp Extreme, for example, the profile increases the base frequency by 150 MHz and thus gives a turbo frequency of 1,833 MHz.

The profiles are stated to be factory tested by Zotac and are the same as the company’s overclocked models normally come with when buying, but must therefore be applied manually for the Geforce GTX 1070 Ti.
