AMD Radeon RX Vega is released in three models – Core, Eclipse and Nova

Almost two years ago, AMD launched the Radeon R9 Fury X, which was the first to introduce HBM memory for graphics cards. It is also so long since the company released a graphics card for the top segment, when a conscious choice was made to focus on the middle class with the architecture Polaris.

The Vega architecture will soon enter the scene and with that, AMD is expected to return to the enthusiast segment. Already at the beginning of the year, the company went out with details about Vega and during the spring, graphics manager Raja Koduri also revealed that the architecture’s name will be used for the commercial products – Radeon RX Vega.

According to a “very reliable source” for Digiworthy, AMD plans to release three graphics cards based on the Vega architecture. What they all have in common is that they will be called Radeon RX Vega, but with different additions – Nova for the flagship, Eclipse for the intermediate model and Core as the entry-level variant.

As the Radeon RX Vega complements the existing Radeon RX 500 series, the Core is in a higher performance class than the Radeon RX 580, which competes with Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 1060. The AMD Radeon RX Vega Core is reportedly to perform equivalent to or slightly better than the Geforce GTX 1070, which is probably why the price tag are set to 20 dollars higher.

Then comes the Radeon RX Vega Eclipse, which goes up against the Geforce GTX 1080, which in the spring was reduced in price from 599 to 499 dollars. It is also this price point that AMD’s ditto go into, which should mean a price tag of around SEK 5,500 including VAT in Swedish stores.

The flagship will be called Radeon RX Vega Nova and counters Nvidia’s fresh Geforce GTX 1080 Ti, which is based on the graphics circuit GP102. For this model, AMD is said to be slightly more aggressive with the lower recommended price of 599 dollars, instead of 699 dollars for GTX 1080 Ti.
