Bulgaria is negotiating with Gazprom to resume fuel supplies
MOSCOW, August 31 – PRIME. The Bulgarian authorities are negotiating with Gazprom on the resumption of gas supplies and hope for a positive result, said Energy Minister Rosen Hristov.
The situation with gas in Bulgaria escalated at the end of April, when Gazprom stopped deliveries to the country due to non-payment in rubles under the new scheme. Last week, the head of the Ministry of Energy stated that the Bulgarian government sent a notification to the Russian side about its readiness to start negotiations.
“We are in touch with Gazprom and are trying to bring the negotiations to a positive conclusion and resume supplies on favorable terms for us. These are extremely difficult negotiations, it is not only about gas supplies, but also about payment terms within the framework of European restrictions,” he said. Christov to BNT TV channel.
According to the minister, negotiations are being conducted “extremely intensively.”
He also spoke about the physical impossibility to select all the volumes under the contract with Gazprom during 2022. One of the conditions for Bulgaria is the ability to accept the lost gas in the first months of 2023 using the European payment system.
