How to connect a Smart TV to WiFi

Unleash the full potential of your TV using WiFi. This article explains how to connect a smart TV to a home network and the Internet using WiFi and troubleshoot connection problems.

The appearance of the on-screen menu and navigation for WiFi setup may vary depending on the make and model of the smart TV, but the steps are very similar. Some TV brands refer to WiFi directly or use the terms Wireless, Wireless Network, Wireless or WiFi Home Network or WiFi Network.

• Go to the welcome screen of the TV, search for available wireless networks, select your network and enter the password.
• To change the network, go to Configuration > Network > Open Network Settings > Wireless> choose your network and enter the password.

Connect smart TV to WiFi the first time

Here’s how to connect your smart TV to the internet using your WiFi network:

1. Make sure your network and internet are working.
2. Turn on your smart TV. You will see a welcome or setup screen.
3. The TV prompts you to start TV setup.
4. As you continue to set up your TV, it may automatically search for available networks or you may be prompted to choose between a wired or wireless (Wi-Fi) network before searching. For WiFi, choose Wireless.
5. Once the network search is complete, you may see several networks listed. Select your network from the list.
6. Enter the network password (key).
7. Once the password is confirmed, a message appears stating that the TV is connected via WiFi to the network and the Internet.
8. After confirming the WiFi, the TV may display a message indicating that a software or firmware update is available. If so, select Yup to download and install the update.
9. Do not turn off the TV or perform other functions while the update is in progress.
10. Once the update is complete, the TV walks you through the rest of the setup. These steps may include adding streaming apps, channel scanning, and picture and sound settings.

Configure or change the WiFi on the smartTV

If you want to switch from a wired connection to WiFi, install a new wireless router, or change your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you can set up or change a WiFi connection.

1. From the main TV screen, select the icon Configuration The Settings.
2. In the menu Settings, select Network.
3. Choose Open network settings.
4. You should see wired (Ethernet) and wireless (Wi-Fi) options listed in Network Settings. Select Wireless The Wi-Fi.
5. The TV searches for available networks. Choose your network from the list.
6. Enter the network password.
7. Once the connection is confirmed, follow any additional on-screen instructions (such as an available update).
8. If the Network Settings menu has a tab or selection named Network status, select it at any time to see if the internet connection is active.

What to do if the smartTV does not connect to WiFi

If you are unable to pair the TV to WiFi or the connection is unstable, try one or more of the following steps.

1. Bring the wireless router and TV closer together or get a WiFi extender for the router and reconnect using the above steps.
2. If Wi-Fi connection attempts fail and your TV and router have an Ethernet port, connect an Ethernet cable from the router to the TV.
3. Depending on the brand and model of the TV, the Ethernet connection may be labeled as Ethernet / LAN The LAN (Local Area Network). The Ethernet cable may be referred to as a network cable.
4. In the TV network settings menu, select Wired. You may be prompted to connect the Ethernet cable.
5. Wait for confirmation that the connection was successful. After confirmation, follow any additional requests (such as a software or firmware update).
6. Two other ways to connect the TV with Ethernet or WiFi are the setup methods PBC e PIN. Read your TV manual.
7. If none of the above options work, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance in manually entering your router’s IP address and DNS server information.
8. If your ISP hasn’t solved the problem, contact your TV brand customer support for assistance.

Not all Smart TVs have Wi-Fi

Older smart TVs may not have a Wi-Fi option. If your smart TV doesn’t have Wi-Fi but has an Ethernet or USB port, you may be able to access Wi-Fi with an Ethernet or USB Wi-Fi adapter.

Consult the user guide or contact customer support to determine if this option can be used and which Wi-Fi adapters are compatible.
