How to find unexpected shutdown events in Windows 11 and their reasons

When your system shuts down unexpectedly, it is very natural for you to wonder if this is the first time this has happened. It might also pique your interest as to why this happened all of a sudden. Fortunately, Windows has a great built-in service called Event Viewer that can give you all the information you need about it.

This article explains in detail how you can see all the shutdowns that occurred on your machine along with the event times. You can also filter these closures and get details only on unexpected closures.

Paso 1: Launch the To run window pressing WIN + R hotkey combination. to write eventvwr.msc and hit the OK button.

Paso 2: When the Event Viewer window opens,

1. Double click on Windows Records in the left window pane to expand it.
2. Then click on the System subsection.
3. Finally, in the right pane of the window, click on the Filter current record option.

Note: Event ID 1074 is for all events when the system was shut down due to manual actions. That is if the user did the shutdown. 1074 could also register if the system reboots automatically to update your computer with the latest system updates.

Paso 4: Now in the panel central in the Event Viewer window, below the System section, you can see all the events where the event ID was 1074, that is, manual shutdowns.

Under the System section, choose the General tab. Here you can see which user initiated the shutdown. You can also easily find out the date and time of the shutdown.

Paso 5: Now, if you want to know only about him unexpected closings what happened on his machine, in the Filter current record window in Step 3, clear the Event Sources drop-down field. And writes 6008 at text field. Once you are done, press OK button.
