How to remove the reminder of unmet system requirements in Windows 11

Soon, Windows 11 devices that don’t meet the minimum operating system requirements will show users System Requirements Not Met reminders.

Microsoft chose two locations on Windows 11 Insider builds: first on the Start page of the Settings app, and second, above the build number displayed on the desktop. Since the latter is not displayed on non-Insider builds, the reminder may not display on desktop on stable builds.

Windows 11 can be installed on devices that don’t meet the minimum system requirements. Microsoft has published instructions to do this and there are several third-party tools, MediaCreationTool.bat, Ventoy or Rufus, that help users install Windows 11 on devices that are not compatible.

Windows 11 users who don’t want to see the reminder on their devices can make a change to the Windows Registry to hide it. The change affects only the message, it does not affect the state of the system regarding compatibility.

Remove Unmet System Requirements Reminder in Windows 11

  1. Load the Windows Registry Editor, for example by opening Start, typing regedit and selecting the option.
  2. Confirm the UAC prompt that Windows displays when you start the registry editor.
  3. navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERPanel de controlUnsupportedHardwareNotificationCache.
  4. Double click on the value SV2 and change its data value to 0.
  5. Restart the PC after you have made the change.

Windows 11 will no longer display reminders that the system is not supported. The reminder is removed from both the desktop and Settings app locations on Insider builds. Stable builds of Windows 11 don’t currently display the message, and the registry key doesn’t exist because of that. Microsoft will introduce it in the future, likely in non-Insider builds of Windows 11.

The reminder has no functional purpose at the moment and is quite easy to ignore. Users who don’t want to see it can now hide it on their devices by making a registry key change.
