KazMunayGas and PetroChina discussed increasing oil supplies to China


MOSCOW, 11 Oct — PRIME. The head of the Kazakh national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) Magzum Mirzagaliyev held an online meeting with the President of PetroChina – Vice President of CNPC Huang Yongzhang, the parties discussed the prospects for increasing oil supplies to China. This was reported in the press service of KMG.

The US Department of Energy noted the possibilities for the release of oil from the reserve
“At the meeting, the parties discussed an increase in the supply of Kazakh oil to China. Thus, options are being considered to increase the capacity of the oil transport infrastructure from Atyrau to China,” the release says.
The head of KMG and the president of PetroChina also noted the prospects for bilateral cooperation and cooperation in the field of geological exploration on joint projects and considered the possibility of expanding the processing capacity of the Shymkent refinery, which KMG owns jointly with the CNPC structure. The development of a preliminary feasibility study for the project is scheduled to be completed in December 2022.
The press service emphasized that the implementation of this project is relevant against the backdrop of growing domestic demand for petroleum products in Kazakhstan.
