MOSCOW, 15 Oct – PRIME. Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi welcomed the restoration of backup power supply at the Zaporozhye NPP, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.

The UN announced the continuation of discussions on the security zone around the ZNPP
In September, a visit by the IAEA mission led by Grossi took place, following which the agency published an inspection report and called for a security zone around the station to avoid emergencies due to shelling.
“Working in very difficult conditions, the operational staff of Zaporizhzhya NPP is doing everything possible to strengthen the fragile situation with energy supply off the site,” the head of the department said.
According to Grossi, the restoration of power supply to the station is a positive step.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. On October 5, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer of the station to the ownership of Russia.
