New tool keeps games updated with the latest DLSS version

Nvidia has chosen to stop numbering versions of their upscaling technology DLSS. They insist that they be called “DLSS 2” or even better just “DLSS”. It has not prevented high-eyed users from identifying updated DLSS versions in newer game titles.

By moving the DLL file that contains the DLSS implementation from newer games to older ones, you can take advantage of the advances made with Nvidia’s upscaling technology. This even if the game developers themselves have not chosen to update their game. SweClockers most recently put it to the test with DLSS 2.2, where the new version fixed problems with artifacts in, for example, Death Stranding.

The developer, nicknamed Beeradmoore, has now developed a tool that automates the process of downloading and replacing the DLSS version in games. The tool is based on Techpowerup’s DLSS database, but also leaves room for users to add their own DLSS versions.

The tool should work with all games on Steam that support DLSS 2.X according to the creator. DLSS Swapper is free to download via Github, but Beeradmoore points out that you use it at your own risk.
