Nvidia announces release date for Geforce RTX 3070

The Geforce RTX 3000 series and the associated “Ampere” architecture have been on the agenda throughout the summer, due to a steady stream of rumors and footage. Almost two weeks ago, Nvidia finally officially presented the products, where the inaugural trio RTX 3090, RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 followed CEO Jensen Huang into the kitchen.

The first two cards will first be on the market with launch dates on September 24 and 17, respectively. Nvidia believes that the Geforce RTX 3080 offers double performance compared to the card’s predecessor RTX 2080, and this at the same target price of 699 USD. Little brother RTX 3070 will instead hit the flagship RTX 2080 Ti on the fingers, but at the unveiling, only the wide launch window “October” was presented. Now Nvidia is following up with the exact date – October 15.

Via its own forum, an Nvidia representative announces that the product will be available on Thursday 15 October at 15:00 Swedish time, which probably means that independent tests may be published a few days before that. As previously known, the target price is 499 USD for the Geforce RTX 3070, which translates to prices from 5,625 kronor – a level at which the Founder’s Edition card lands.

►Geforce RTX 3080 rolls too full in the test lab – but the review embargo is pushed forward

When it comes to the imminent Geforce RTX 3080 rollout, Nvidia previously promised that reviews will be published from September 15, but due to delivery issues, the date has been moved forward to 16 at 15:00. The starting shot for sales is unchanged on September 17, but judging by the retailers’ information, the first charge of graphics cards can run out quickly.
