The series is called Volcanic Islands and is the direct sequel to today’s Southern Islands.

Some exact details are not yet known, but it is said that the new graphics processors will be manufactured with existing 28 nanometer technology and build on Bonaire with Graphics Core Next, which can be seen in the Radeon HD 7790. This is because this circuit has a very good relationship between power consumption and performance. Earlier rumors, however, have spoken of a transition to 20 nanometers.

The most expensive graphics processor goes by the code name Hawaii and replaces today’s Tahiti, known from the Radeon HD 7900 series.
