Back at Thermalright today with a new evolution of the now famous Macho, the Macho Direct! After some revisions of the cooler, which is now a few years old, Thermalright returns with a model that is more entry-level oriented than its brothers, with all the artifices such as the nickel-plated copper of the heat pipes and the black plate above removed in order to make lower costs. Offered at a recommended price of around 38 € (even if it is not available in France at this price) it could be interesting for those who want a good big cooler in order to overclock their processor without breaking the bank. Let’s see what the beast has in store for us.

On the front we find a photo of the beast on a black background as well as the name of the model and of course the brand, at least no pompous marketing here, and that’s good! At the back a table showing the technical characteristics, in 3 different languages.

On the side a list of the strong points of Macho Direct, like the compatibility with the first PCIe port, the total compatibility with the memory modules on socket 115x, easy assembly, silent etc. The list is long I let you look at it for you -even!

When opening the box we come across another small box containing the bundle, that is to say the foam containing the fan, another layer of foam and finally the cooler. One thing is certain Thermalright has packed the Macho Direct well to avoid as much hassle as possible during transport.

The bundle is very well supplied, in addition to the fan (and the radiator of course!) There is an instruction manual, the various elements allowing the installation on the different sockets, 4 clips for 2 fans (only 1 supplied), rubber pads to put between the fans and the radiator as well as of course the necessary screws. On top of all this Thermalright has added a screwdriver to facilitate installation, which is of good quality with a magnetic bit too!
