The European Commission spoke about the conditions for introducing a ceiling on gas prices
BRUSSELS, September 29 — PRIME. The European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, admitted the possibility of introducing a ceiling on gas imported to the EU countries in the event of an unsuccessful outcome of negotiations with suppliers.
“We are negotiating with reliable suppliers of pipeline gas. If they do not bring results, then a ceiling on prices is possible,” said Simson, quoted by the press service of the European Commission.
Earlier, the energy ministers of 15 EU countries sent a joint appeal to the European Commission, in which they advocated the introduction of a price ceiling for all gas imported into the EU, regardless of its origin.
An emergency meeting of EU energy ministers is scheduled for Friday.
