The Federation Council proposed to respond harshly to the request of Moldova

MOSCOW, August 28 – PRIME. Member of the Federation Council Alexei Pushkov emotionally commented in his Telegram channel on the request of Ilan Shor, leader of the opposition Moldovan Shor party, to supply gas from Russia to the country.

Earlier, the Moldovan opposition leader asked Russia to “warm our homes” and announced his readiness to personally “go to Moscow to negotiate gas supplies to Moldova on terms that will not destroy our independence, humiliate the citizens of our country and cripple our economy.”

As Pushkov noted in response, taking into account Chisinau’s inability to pay for gas supplies on time and repay the accumulated debt, this request means that Russia “should actually subsidize” the political course of the republic’s president, Maia Sandu.

“It looks strange,” the senator believes, “because Sandu does not hide his orientation and his bad attitude towards Russia. What is the point for us to support the pro-Western course of present-day Moldova with gas supplies?”

At the same time, he expressed confidence that in return Moscow would receive nothing but the strengthening of this pro-Western course.

“No thanks, no change of policy from Sandu is not expected. So should we fund such a course?” Pushkov asked rhetorically.
