The head of “Rosseti” visited the construction site of power facilities of the Eastern range of Russian Railways

MOSCOW, August 26 – PRIME. Andrey Ryumin, Director General of PJSC Rosseti, visited the construction site of the 500 kV Nizhneangarskaya substation in the north of Buryatia and power transmission lines to the 500 kV Ust-Kut substation in the Irkutsk Region, and also held a headquarters for the implementation of external power supply facilities for the Eastern Russian Railways range – Baikal- Amur and Trans-Siberian highways.

“The power supply of the Eastern Range of Railways is the largest project in the Russian grid complex. All facilities are being built using modern equipment that guarantees a high level of reliability and sufficient capacity. Despite external challenges, we managed to resolve the issues with the supply, alternative solutions will be used already before the end of the year,” Ryumin commented.

It is noted that the capacity of the 500 kV Nizhneangarskaya substation will be 1,002 MVA, the length of the transmission line will be about 465 km. Power facilities are of key importance for the industrial development of Eastern Siberia and the development of railway infrastructure. The substation will be part of the Peleduysky energy ring, created to improve the reliability of power supply to four regions of Russia – the Irkutsk region, Yakutia, Buryatia and Transbaikalia.

The 500 kV power supply center being built at the transit of the Baikal-Amur Mainline will significantly reduce train traffic intervals and increase freight traffic. Also, for the technological connection of power receiving devices of Russian Railways, the existing 220 kV transmission lines “Kichera – Novy Uoyan” and “Angoy – Novy Uoyan” will be reconstructed.

The implementation of the first stage of work on the development of an external power supply scheme for the Eastern test site, which includes the Nizhneangarskaya substation and the Nizhneangarskaya-Ust-Kut power line, is carried out as part of the national project – the Comprehensive Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the Main Infrastructure. In total, at the first stage, Rosseti intends to introduce more than 2,700 km of power transmission lines and 3,500 MVA of transformer capacity were put into operation. Now the design and construction of objects of the second stage is underway.
