MOSCOW, Sep 2 — PRIME. Two IAEA specialists will remain at the Zaporozhye NPP on a permanent basis, Moscow welcomes this, said Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna.
“Two people will remain at the ZNPP on a permanent basis. We welcome this, since the international presence is designed to dispel numerous speculations regarding the state of affairs at the ZNPP,” the diplomat said.
Ulyanov stressed that the experts are international officials who face purely technical tasks, so their nationality is of secondary importance.
In addition, according to the diplomat, six experts stayed at ZNPP for several days.
“In a few hours, the director general, as he himself confirmed, managed to get acquainted with the most important points in the state of affairs at the nuclear power plant. However, more thorough expert work is required here. In this regard, six employees of the agency specializing in IAEA safeguards and nuclear safety remained at the station” Ulyanov told RIA Novosti.
The IAEA mission, headed by the agency’s director general Rafael Grossi, arrived at the Zaporozhye NPP on Thursday. The head of the delegation of “Rosatom” and employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP led the delegation of the IAEA through its territory and showed the sections of the station that were damaged during the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
