The Ministry of Defense confirmed its readiness to accept the IAEA mission at the Zaporozhye NPP

MOSCOW, 1 Sep — PRIME. Russia confirms its readiness to accept the IAEA mission at the Zaporozhye NPP and ensure its safety, despite the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to disrupt the visit, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“The situation in the area of the nuclear power plant is difficult, but remains under full control,” the ministry added.

The fifth power unit of the Zaporozhye NPP was stopped due to shelling
On Monday, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that the mission is heading to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and will arrive on site this week. Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, told RIA Novosti that the mission includes about a dozen employees of the IAEA secretariat who deal with issues of safeguards and nuclear safety. They are accompanied by a large team of UN staff dealing with logistics and security issues.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that the IAEA inspection at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will begin on August 31 and will last until September 3. Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday published a video of a meeting with IAEA experts led by Grossi.
