MOSCOW, 4 Oct — PRIME. The Netherlands opposes limiting the price of imported gas due to fears that such a move will lead to a reorientation of supplies from Europe to Asia, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said.
“My fears are that if limit gas prices are introduced, then a situation may arise that gas will not be supplied to us, but, for example, to Asia. And it will no longer be supplied to Europe. Then there will be a problem,” – he said during a press conference, which was broadcast by the German TV channel Phoenix.
Rutte urged Europe to take a pragmatic and reasonable approach to limiting prices for this energy resource.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing Polish Climate Minister Anna Moskva, that a group of individual European countries would develop their own bill to limit gas prices. According to the data, they include Poland, Belgium, Italy and Greece. As noted, the proposal will concern wholesale gas prices and will be ready for discussion by EU energy ministers at a meeting on October 11.
