ANKARA, Sep 15 – PRIME. Presidents of the Russian Federation and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan will discuss Russian gas supplies at a meeting in Samarkand on Thursday, in particular, details of partial payment in rubles and lira, a diplomatic source in Ankara told RIA Novosti.
The leaders of Russia and Turkey agreed to start partial payments in rubles for Russian gas supplies to Turkey, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said earlier. Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said that an agreement in principle on Turkey’s purchase of Russian gas in rubles has been reached, Ankara is discussing with Moscow the possibility of paying for some of the transit in Turkish lira.
“Yes, the gas issue, in particular, the details of the agreement on payment in national currencies will be on the agenda,” the source said, answering a question about the likelihood of the leaders discussing Russian gas supplies to Turkey.
According to the source, there are no problems in the supply of Russian gas to Turkey.
