MOSCOW, 2 Oct — PRIME. Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, said that until the SoundCloud music service restricts illegal content, it will not be unblocked in the Russian Federation – the politician urged to wait for the appearance of domestic analogues.
Roskomnadzor has restricted access to the music service SoundCloud in connection with the placement of false information about a special military operation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the department on Sunday.
“The terms of the platform clearly spell out a ban on disinformation, incitement to violence and offensive remarks – but political preferences for the SoundCloud administration are more important than their own rules. This is the only explanation why podcasts filled with selective Russophobia and fakes continue to be released on the German service,” Gorelkin wrote in your Telegram channel.
As another example of the manifestation of “double standards”, he noted the blocking last year of the podcast of the American journalist Andy Ngo, “who has long been a bone in the throat of the US Democratic Party”, “received threats from extremists”, and was “forced to emigrate to another country” . According to the parliamentarian, until the service restricts access to illegal content, it is unlikely to be unblocked in Russia.
“Therefore, we are waiting for the appearance of Russian analogues of SoundCloud, because I personally have no hope for the prudence of his administration,” he concluded.
