MOSCOW, 27 Sep — PRIME. The Swedish seismic center reported the registration of powerful underwater explosions in the area of gas leaks from the Nord Streams, said Carl Fried Kleberg, a journalist for the SVT television channel.
As noted by seismologists, on Monday, two powerful explosions were recorded in the area of gas pipelines.
“There is no doubt that these were explosions,” the journalist quotes the words of the representative of the department, Bjorn Lund.
According to the Swedish radio station Radio Sweden, the magnitude of one of the explosions was 2.3 on the Richter scale, it was felt in 30 locations in southern Sweden. Bjorn Lund told the radio station that, based on the shape of the waves, the explosions occurred underwater or close to the seabed.
Earlier on Monday, Nord Stream 2 AG reported that an emergency had occurred on one of the Nord Stream 2 lines in Danish waters near the island of Bornholm: pressure dropped sharply in it. The reasons are unknown, and an investigation is underway.
Later, Nord Stream AG, the operator of Nord Stream, reported a pressure drop on both strings for unknown reasons.
