Figaro: The wholesale price of electricity in France has broken a record

PARIS, 26 Aug – PRIME. The wholesale price of electricity in France has reached a record high, surpassing the mark of 1,000 euros per megawatt-hour – this is 1000% more than a year ago, the Figaro newspaper writes.
Universities in the Czech Republic may switch to online education due to electricity prices
For the same period last year, the cost of electricity in the country was 85 euros per megawatt-hour, the newspaper notes.
It is reported that several reasons are behind such a rise in prices: restrictions on Russian gas supplies to Europe due to the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the shutdown of several nuclear reactors in France due to corrosion. Only 24 of EDF’s 56 nuclear reactors are currently operating in France.
Earlier it was reported that the average price of electricity for the day ahead, that is, on August 26, in a number of EU countries crossed the mark of 700 euros per megawatt-hour.
