Memoji are custom emoji built into AR. They can be just your face or they can be one of the many other characters that are part of memoji; alien, chicken, cow, etc. Memoji were added in iOS 12, but they were only available on devices with Face ID or a true depth camera. Memoji are created through the Messages app. You can choose to create several different characters once you have created the base character. Is that how it works.

1. Open the Messages app on your iPhone.
2. Select any chat thread.
3. Touch the more options button (three dot button).
