How to enable / disable Show desktop icon on taskbar in Windows 11
While many application windows are open, the Show Desktop icon on the taskbar is the fastest way to get to the desktop other than the keyboard shortcut. But some users don’t like having this icon on their taskbar, while others think of it as a great desktop access. If you want to keep or remove show desktop icon, this article will guide you on how to enable or disable show desktop icon on your Windows 11 system.
Method 1: from the Settings app
Paso 1: Press Win + me keys together on your keyboard.
Paso 2: Click on Personalization in the left pane of the window.
Paso 3: After clicking Personalization, scroll down the page and click Taskbar on the right side of the window.
Paso 4: Click on Taskbar behaviors option at the bottom of the page.
Paso 5: Click on Select the far corner of the taskbar to display the desktop checkbox to enable or disable Show desktop in taskbar option as shown in screenshot given below.
Paso 6: Close the configuration window.
You can now move the mouse cursor to the far right corner of the taskbar to see if the desktop icon is displayed or not.

Method 2: use Registry Editor
NOTE:– Before proceeding with the registry editor, save a copy of the registry file as a backup to revert later if there are any problems.
Paso 1: Press Win + R keys together on your keyboard.
Paso 2: Writes regedit and hit Get into wrench.
Paso 3: Then click Yes in the UAC message to continue.
Paso 4: Copy and paste the following path in the address bar and press Get into wrench.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced
Paso 5: Make sure Advanced The record is selected in the left pane of the window.
Paso 6: Then scroll down and find SD task bar DWORD value on the right side as shown in the following image.
Paso 7: Double click SD task bar to change its value.
Paso 8: Click on Value data and write 0 to disable and 1 to enable the show desktop icon on the taskbar.
Paso 9: Finally, click OK to close the window for editing the DWORD value.
Paso 10: Close the Registry Editor window.
Now you can check whether or not the Show Desktop icon is present on the taskbar without rebooting the system.
