HOW TO CONNECT YOUR PC TO AN ANDROID PHONE

The first thing you need to do is connect your Android device to the PC using the Your Phone app. Here’s how to do it.

  1. On your Android device, download Your Phone Companion from the Google Play Store and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Now the app will ask for some necessary permissions, such as access to contacts, phone calls, multimedia and text messages. After allowing them, press Continue. Also, for the app to work flawlessly, you need to allow it to run in the background.
  3. Now on your PC, press the Windows key and type the phone , then press Enter. If you don’t have the Your Phone app pre-installed on your PC, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
  4. In the Your Phone app, sign in with your Microsoft account. Use the same Microsoft account on your PC and Android device to link both devices.
  5. Select the device type such as Android and click Continue.

Now both your Android device and PC are connected to each other. And you will be able to perform basic functions like viewing photos, reading notifications, sending text messages and more.

However, since Your Phone handles calls via Bluetooth, you need to establish a Bluetooth connection between your PC and Android device to make and receive calls.

CONNECT YOUR ANDROID DEVICE TO PC VIA BLUETOOTH

  1. In the Your Phone app on your PC, click Calls on the left, then click the Get Started button on the right. Then, click Set.
  2. You will receive a pairing notification on your phone. Click Allow, then check the “Allow access to your contacts and call history” box and press Pair.
  3. On the PC, click Yes when prompted to pair the device with the PC.

Do you own multiple devices? Microsoft comes to meet you. Initially only available to insiders, Microsoft recently made this feature that allows you to add multiple devices available to all users. To add another device, follow these simple steps mentioned below.

  1. In the Your Phone on PC app, click on the Settings option from the left pane. Then click on My Devices.
  2. In My Devices on the right, select the “+” icon and you will be asked for the type of device (Andriod or iPhone you want to add. From there, you can follow the same steps mentioned above to add another device.

In addition to calling, the Your Phone app lets you send and receive text messages, view notifications, sync photos, and more. And that’s not enough. Microsoft plans to add screen mirroring functionality soon. The feature is already available for Windows Insiders.
