How to play Castle Crashers on Linux – Easy Steps

Castle Crashers is a 2D hack and slash indie video game developed by The Behemoth. The game was released in 2008 for Xbox 360. However, the game made its way to other platforms later. Here’s how to play Castle Crashers on Linux.

Getting Castle Crashers to work on Linux

Castle Crashers is not a Linux game, but thanks to Proton, it works fine on Linux. However, the Proton tool only works on Linux via the Steam client. Therefore, you must install the Steam Linux client on your Linux PC before proceeding.

Instalar Steam

To get Steam for Linux working on your computer, open a terminal window on the Linux desktop. To do that, click Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. Alternatively, search for “Terminal” in the application menu and run it that way.

When the terminal window is open and ready to use, follow the Linux installation instructions below that correspond to the Linux operating system you are currently using.

Ubuntu

To get Steam to work on Ubuntu, you can install it with the fit install command below.

sudo apt install steam

Debian

In order for Steam to work on Debian, you will need to download the DEB package on your computer. You can download the Steam DEB package on your computer using the wget download command below.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

After downloading the latest version from Steam on your Debian PC, you can begin the installation. Using the dpkg command then install Steam on your computer.

sudo dpkg -i steam.deb

Once the Steam DEB package is configured on your Debian PC, you will need to run the apt-get install -f command. This command will allow you to correct any dependency problems that have appeared during the installation.

sudo apt-get install -f

Arch Linux

Steam is available to Arch Linux users through the “multilib” software repository. However, you will need to enable this software repository because it is not always enabled. To do this, open the /etc/pacman.conf file in your favorite text editor (as root).

After opening the text file in an editor as root, find the “multilib” section of the file. Then remove the # symbol in front of it and the lines directly below it. When you’re done, save your edits and exit the editor.

Now that everything is set up, resynchronize your Arch Linux system with the following command.

sudo pacman -Syy

Finally, install the latest version of Steam on your Arch Linux computer.

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora / OpenSUSE

For Steam to work on Fedora or OpenSUSE, it is best to follow the Flatpak installation instructions in this guide. However, if you do not want to install Steam through Flatpak, it is possible to install Steam through software repositories included in the operating system.

Flatpak

If you want to use the Flatpak version of Steam on your computer, you will first need to configure the Flatpak runtime on your computer. To configure the Flatpak runtime, follow our setup guide on the subject.

After setting the Flatpak runtime on your computer, you can begin the Steam installation. Using the two commands below, install the latest version of Steam.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

Instalar Castle Crashers en Linux

When Steam is installed, launch it on the Linux desktop by searching for t in the application menu. After that, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Castle Crashers working.

Paso 1: Find the “Steam” menu within the Steam application and click on it with your mouse. Then find the “Settings” button within Steam and select it to access Steam settings.

Inside the Steam settings window, look for the “Steam Play” section. Then check the “Enable Steam Play for supported titles” box and the “Enable Steam Play for all other titles” box.

Paso 2: Find the “Shop” button at the top of Steam and select it with your mouse. After selecting this button, you will get access to the Steam store. From here, locate the search box and click on it.

After selecting the search box, type “Castle Crashers”. Then press the Pay in on the keyboard to view the search results. Finally, look at the search results and click on “Castle Crashers” to access the in-game store page.
