MSN virus removal and Windows Live Messenger

Viruses have been circulating for some time (it is more correct to call them worms) that spread via MSN or WLM, sending files to all contacts in the address book. Lately this type of malware has also been localized in Italian (more or less) and typically you will find yourself sending / receiving this type of message with a file attached IMG-0012.zip:

put these photos on your myspace page
jaja remember when she had her hair like this
Here are the fotos of there
I will upload this photo to my myspace now
jaja remember when she had her hair like this
hey I’ll put this picture of us on my myspace: D
hey I’ll add this picture of us to my weblog

I remember when we brought this photo
…
etc

To avoid getting infected, it is sufficient not to accept suspicious attachments of that type (or at least not to open them) or if you recognize that you are already infected (perhaps because your contacts in the list complain and block you: p) proceed as follows:

– download the MSNFix.zip file
– to execute MSNFix.bat (present in the archive)
– press R to search for malware
– press N to remove it completely

MSNFix it also removes other viruses / worms that have previously spread via MSN or WLM.
