MOSCOW, 12 Oct — PRIME. The reason for the rise in energy prices was not a special operation in Ukraine, but errors in the energy policy of Western countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the Russian Energy Week forum.
“They themselves are to blame, I want to emphasize once again… This is the result of an erroneous energy policy over a number of previous years, a number of years,” he said.
The head of state noted that the raw materials coming to Europe are sold “at exorbitant prices”, which leads to an acceleration of inflation in the eurozone. Ordinary Europeans are suffering from rising electricity bills, Putin stressed.
“What does Russia have to do with it? And they are constantly trying to blame their own mistakes on someone. In this case, on Russia,” he concluded.
