As with many electronic products in this 2020, HP with its Reverb G2 also faced delays and production problems. The viewer, initially planned for a generic “autumn”, from an official communication from HP it should have been delivered starting in early November.

In reality this has happened but only for some countries: in Australia they were the first to receive it and other states followed suit, including the USA. Unfortunately, however, European orders have been postponed for some reason: in particular the largest distributors who had collected most of the pre-orders, namely Amazon.es and Bestware, have not yet received any headsets. The bad news for those who have been waiting for the viewer for months, however, fortunately, seem over.

Last night Amazon.es sent everyone who pre-ordered the viewer an email in which he writes: “Unfortunately, the purchased product has been delayed in production and we cannot guarantee a precise delivery date. First of all, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We would like to explain to you why and compensate you with a refund of € 50 on the purchase price of the virtual reality headset once the product is shipped to you. Once shipped, we’ll email you a partial refund confirmation within 5-7 days. In any case, you can exercise your right of withdrawal at any time. ” So it is confirmed that there will be a refund of 50 € for all those who have pre-ordered the viewer on Amazon.es, although the delivery dates are still unknown.

However, other good news comes from the other important European retailer, namely Bestware, which through a post on Reddit and a series of timely emails ensures that it will receive the first batches within this week. Not only that, the retailer has confirmed that all pre-orders until October 1st will be delivered by Christmas, according to this roadmap:

Bestware also specifies: “* The ETA describes the length of time the viewers should arrive at the warehouse of our broker and HP’s airline broker in Germany, allowing us to begin fulfilling pre-orders. This ETA is never 100% accurate – the goods may arrive slightly earlier or later. Delays in the logistics chain (such as flight schedules and customs operations) are unpredictable and change constantly. “

It also appears that the € 50 refund is valid not only for Amazon pre-orders, but for all pre-orders made by official HP resellers in Europe (including Bestware). In fact, HP has already opened a dedicated page to manage refunds, available at this address. Bestware itself should notify its customers with an email in the morning. Consequently, those who pre-ordered the viewer in advance at a price of around € 600 will finally pay it only 550 €.

If you are also waiting for the viewer, or you are simply curious, stay tuned to VR Italia, because between the end of this week and the beginning of the next there could be very important news regarding the HP Reverb G2!
