How to block Android applications with or WITHOUT apps: 7 ways !!!

To prevent someone else from seeing your Messenger, Facebook or WhatsApp, you must block the applications with a password or key. It is as simple as configuring the application protector or APP LOCKER that is usually already factory installed on devices such as Huawei or Xiaomi. If that is not your case, such as the Samsung Galaxy, then you will need to install a third-party application.

The app lock on Android allows you to prevent unauthorized access to your private apps, such as WhatsApp, Facebook or others. Unlike the lock screen that protects total access to the cell phone (and it is advisable to have it activated), in this case you will only block sensitive applications and you can allow them to use the rest.

In some cases you can even use your finger or fingerprint to lock or unlock, instead of having to enter a password or PIN, however, your cell phone must have a fingerprint reader for this to be possible. If this is the case with your cell phone, some apps like WhatsApp even offer their own blocking option.

WITHOUT installing APPS

Before downloading an app to lock apps (APP LOCK), check if your cell phone already has a factory function for this purpose.

For example, in the case of my Huawei, this option is in Settings, Safety, App lock. Once activated, you can choose to use the same password or lock screen security, or use a different PIN, unique to lock apps.

Once this functionality is configured, you only have to activate the apps you want to block. In the case above I have blocked WhatsApp, which as I said before, I am forced to block it in this way since my phone does not have a fingerprint reader and I cannot block this particular app with the blocking option that WhatsApp offers on its own settings.

The good thing about using Android’s own option (in this case Huawei), is that it works without errors and blocks everything about the application, its preview in recent apps and notifications. Every time you try to view the application, it will ask you for the lock key.

Temporarily blocking APPS

Pin Screen is a feature available on some devices with Android 5 and up. Normally it should be found in the settings of your Android phone, option “Security”.

Basically, what it does is lock the cell phone to a single screen. If a friend asks you for a call, you can limit him to only using the screen to dial phone numbers, blocking the exit to other screens or applications on the device with security. To exit this mode, press and hold the multitasking button (“Overview” button).

Before using this feature you must configure a lock screen on Android (Configure> Security> Screen Lock) with a pattern, PIN or password (do not use the Swipe option). Then you have to activate the Screen Pinning option in Configure> Security> Screen Pinning.

Hide blocked apps

Instead of that obvious screen showing that the application is locked and that a code must be entered in order to open it, there is another more discreet option. With Oops! AppLock, when trying to open a blocked application only an empty wallpaper will appear. To access you must press the volume buttons in the correct sequence. In other words, it is an unlocking by physical buttons.

All you have to do is set the lock sequence, pressing the volume buttons. Then add the apps you want to block and set the wallpaper and that’s it.
