How to fix MRT blocked by system administrator

MRT is a built-in Microsoft tool that is used to remove malicious programs running on the system. At times, users have reported seeing the following error message on their laptops.

This app has been blocked by your system administrator.
Contact your system administrator  para more info.

In this article, we have selected some fixes to solve this problem.

Solution 1: remove MRT key from software policies

1. Open Run dialog with the keys Windows + R from the keyboard.

2. Type the command regedit and hit Get into.

3. If you see a User Access Control window looking for permissions, click Yes.

4. In the registry editor window that opens, copy and paste the following location into the search bar and press Get into. Please see the screenshot below for more details.

5. Under the most secure key, look for the key named MRT The Malicious removal tool. If you find it, right click on it and select Delete.

6. Again, navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows Policies

7. Look for the key named MRT or Malicious removal tool. If you find it, right click on it and select Delete.

Solution 2: delete some of the registry keys

1. Open the To run Dialog on your system. Use the shortcut Windows + R.

2. Type cmd and keep the keys Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open the command prompt with administrator rights.

3. If you see a User Access Control message, click And.

4. In the command prompt window that opens, run the following commands one after the other. Make sure you get it right Get into after each command.

5. After successful execution of all commands, reboot your system.

Solution 3: add permissions to the administrator account

1. In the search bar, type MRT.

2. The right button of the mouse in the top result and then choose Open file location. Please refer to the following screenshot.

4. In the Properties window, click the Security tab.

5. Then click the Advanced button as shown below.

6. In the Advanced Security Settings window, click the Change Link.

7. In the Select user or group window under the Enter the name of the object to select, writes Administrator.

8. Now click it’s fine.

9. Click Request and then click OK.

10. Restart the system.

Solution 4: run MRT as administrator

1. In the next search bar, enter MRT.

2. The right button of the mouse in the top result and choose the Open file location. Please refer to the screenshot below.

4. In the Properties window that opens, select the Compatibility tab.

5. Tick about Run this program as administrator.

6. Finally, click Request and then click OK.
