Delete or disable large apps

Apps have gotten a lot bigger in recent years. So, you can free up space on iPhone by removing apps that you haven’t used in a while. To delete apps on iPhone, go to Settings> General> iPhone Storage. Then scroll down, select an app and tap Delete app. The app list is sorted by size, from largest to smallest. The dimensions will include the documents, data and files associated with the app. Under each app, you will also see the “Last used” date. If you don’t want to completely delete an app from iPhone, you can tap Offload App instead. This will uninstall the app without deleting its documents and data.

After you download an app, you will still see the app on the home screen or in the App Library, but it will be greyed out. The advantage of deactivating an app is that you can re-download it at any time and you can start using it as you did before. For example, if you deactivate a game on your iPhone and then download it again, all saved game files will still be there. You can also tell the iPhone to automatically disable apps you haven’t used in a while by going to Settings> App Store. Here tap on the slider next to Download unused apps. However, it is important to note that you will need an internet connection to re-download the apps you have disabled. So, don’t disable apps you might need to use without WiFi.
