How to install Android apps on Windows 11
The dream of running Android apps on your PC has finally come true with Windows 11. There is great potential for this exciting feature. We will show you how to install Android apps on Windows 11.
What will you need
As of October 2021, Windows 11 apps for Android are still in beta. There are several things you will need to use this feature.
First, you must be on the Windows Insider Beta channel, build 2200.282 or higher. Please note that the beta channel is not completely stable and we do not recommend using unstable versions of Windows on your main PC.
Second, your Windows 11 PC must have hardware virtualization enabled. Windows 11 basically runs Android in a virtual machine, so it is necessary. You can check if virtualization is enabled on your PC by going to the “Performance” tab of the Task Manager. (You can press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.)
If hardware virtualization is not enabled, you may need to enable Intel VT-X in your computer’s UEFI firmware (BIOS). If your system has an AMD chip in place, look for AMD-V in the UEFI firmware setup screen.
Next, make sure you are using the latest version from the Microsoft Store. Open Microsoft Store and update all the apps on the “Library” page. You need Microsoft Store version 22110.1402.6.0.
If all of these things are verified, you’re good to go! If you have installed any updates to get to this, it is a good idea to restart your PC before continuing.
How to install Android apps on Windows 11
The first thing to do is open the Microsoft Store. If it’s not already pinned to the taskbar, open the Start menu and type “Microsoft Store.”
In the store, search for “Amazon Appstore” or click this link to open the list. Click “Install” to continue.
A pop-up window will appear to guide you through the setup process. Click “Configure” and follow the steps to download the Appstore. The last step will be to “reboot” your PC.
After restarting, the Amazon Appstore may open automatically. Otherwise, you can find it in the list of applications in the Start menu.
The first thing to do is log into your Amazon account or create one.
Once it’s there, it will work like any other app store you’ve used. You can explore the suggestions or search for something. In all cases, select an application to install.
Click “Install” on the application information page.
The application will download and then install. Once finished, you can click “Open”.
That’s it! You have installed your first Android application on Windows! Android apps can be found in the Start menu, just like Windows apps.
