How to install Jellyfin Media Player on Linux – Easy Steps

Ubuntu installation instructions

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Ubuntu 21.10 and newer

Debian Installation Instructions

After installing the two packages, use the following commands to configure the latest version of the Trizen AUR helper tool. This program will greatly facilitate the configuration of Jellyfin Media Player.

Fedora Installation Instructions

Unfortunately, the Jellyfin Media Player application is not packaged for Fedora on the Github launch page. Also, it is not in the official software repositories. Fortunately, Jellyfin Media Player is available on the Flathub app store as Flatpak. Follow Flatpak’s instructions for the application to work on Fedora.

OpenSUSE Installation Instructions

On OpenSUSE Linux, Jellyfin Media Player is available for installation on Tumbleweed and Leap 15.3. Begin by opening a terminal window on the desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard for the app to work. Or search for “Terminal” in the application menu.

With the terminal window open, use the zipper addrepo command to add the Jellyfin Media Player repository to your OpenSUSE system.
